Richard Rosenblatt: Seriously, Leave My Yacht Out Of This

Earlier this afternoon, Mike posted an exclusive story about an internal war raging within Google. In the post he mentioned that Google revenue chief Nikesh Arora had recently returned from a two week jaunt in the Caribbean with Demand Media CEO Richard Rosenblatt aboard Rosenblatt's yacht, The Adsense. A few minutes after the post went live, Rosenblatt called the TechCrunch office and left a voicemail. Boy is he pissed. Not at any of the other details of the story -- which he doesn't deny -- but about Mike revealing details of his yacht. We understand that, in these piracy-infested times, the super-rich are rightly protective of their yachts -- but come on dude, it's called 'The Adsense'. That's news! Voicemail below.

How 3D Can Get You Out of Anything [Humor]

The thing about 3D around here is that we pretty much can't stand it. Or at least, the way it's currently being implemented. But the big breakthrough is realizing that our gripes about the third dimension can be applied to literally anything. More »

Microsoft details Windows Phone 7 by the numbers: 11,500 apps, 36,000 developers

We've already seen a fair number of Windows Phone 7 stats, but Microsoft's now gone and provided a proper retrospective for the first anniversary of its debut at the MIX10 conference last year. The standout figure, as usual, is the number of apps, which now stands at 11,500 -- a number that Microsoft is quick to point out it's not "artificially inflating" by listing wallpapers as a category, or boosting by adding competitor's apps to increase "tonnage." Microsoft also notes that while the Windows Phone Developer Tools have been downloaded 1.5 million times, it's choosing instead to focus on the number of AppHub community members as a more accurate measure of the number of developers for the platform -- they now total 36,000. It's also revealed that Windows Phone 7 users download twelve apps each month on average, that it's currently adding 1,200 new developers this week, and that 1,100 of the apps in the Marketplace are ad-supported and generating revenue with its Ad Control platform. Hit up the source link below for the rest of the stats.

Why Does This Crazy Router Look Like a Wind Turbine? [Wtf]

The Japanese company Logitec, not the same company as Logitech mind you, is releasing this crazy router called LAN-WH450N/GR that has an antenna that looks like wind turbine blades. What the hell? The three antenna design supposedly lets the 802.11n router hit network speeds of 450Mbps. More »
